2020.09.26 04:52 KinaligtaanIt's the saddest year for Southeast Asian League of Legends since Season 1.
(Obligatory wall of text ahead since I'll be talking about a bit of SEA's history in the League scene.) It's been a little bittersweet for me watching Worlds this year as a Filipino/Southeast Asian fan, who has been somewhat semi-casually supporting SEA/PH teams since Season 1's Pacific Esports (Philippines) from the first World Championship Series. I always just lurk around leagueoflegends and almost never post at all, but since there's almost no Southeast Asian representation on the Worlds stage this year, I felt like I should let the world on Reddit in on a glimpse of our humble region's past as a fan, and how it feels to be a SEA fan now during Season 10 Worlds. No one really remembers the bottom-barrel teams in tournaments, but having our region centered around being a wildcard since our existence makes for an interesting timeline. As we've been around since the first season of League, getting our region handed to us first even before China and Korea, SEA has, needless to say, been through a lot since the start but we've always had somewhat of a sad storyline. I've personally been almost through it all as a SEA fan-- •With how the first World Championship crown for Garena Pro League regions was bestowed upon Taipei Assassins as the best GPL representative in Season 2, which our SEA teams got absolutely dominated by, and therefore separating a line between SEA and the LMS as regions because they're just that good compared to all of us then. (In the first place, they were only pitted against us because Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and the whole of Southeast Asia all had the pleasure of our games being hosted by Garena through their League of Legends client in our respective countries, and not Riot themselves.) •With how the Philippines somehow managed to get by the favorites in Singapore Sentinels (who were runners-up to ahq in the GPL) through a separate 2013 Worlds Regional Qualifier for SEA teams, despite sending Mineski (PH's second seed who consisted of mainly DOTA 1 players at the time), to represent a lone SEA region onto Season 3 Worlds because our first place PH seed had issues getting to the offline qualifier held in Vietnam. It was probably to the surprise of no one that they went 0-8 in their group. •With how SEA teams were outclassed heavily in the last year for GPL with TW/HK/Macao teams in 2014, inevitably getting crushed by the likes of AHQ and TPA one last time, undoubtedly having them represent LMS/SEA as the undisputed best teams we have. Although to their credit, Vietnam's teams were a close second even then to the (3) Taiwanese teams present in the GPL. But we still sent two out of three LMS teams because they were just that stronger as shown in the regular split and the regional qualifiers. •With how we got separated from the LMS in 2015 because the LMS deservedly was given their own separate region from us, sending the Bangkok Titans (Thailand) directly to Worlds 2015, who were actually one of the best teams SEA had at the time, to only get stomped on at Worlds as wildcards that never won any games in that tournament. Safe to say cementing SEA as the "losingest" region present at Worlds then yet again, since the other wildcard team in Brazil's Pain Gaming at least managed to get two significant wins for their region. •With how in 2016, our best SEA wildcard team in Saigon Jokers (Vietnam) who have always established themselves as a powerhouse within SEA, lost every game they played in the International Wildcard Qualifier to make it to Worlds 2016, marking the first time since the first season that SEA had no presence whatsoever at Worlds. At least the LMS, alone, had been doing great then. •With how there was a resurgence in 2017 within Vietnamese teams since 2017 GPL Spring, ultimately giving us the best SEA representation since our humble beginnings at both 2017 MSI and Worlds, putting SEA back on the map, and establishing us as the absolute best wildcard region of that year. So much so that we unthinkably had (2) teams (albeit all-Vietnamese) represent us as a region at Worlds. It was absolutely mind-blowing to me as a fan at the time. Even I, as a Filipino, was so happy for Vietnam's League scene and naturally for SEA LoL as a whole. Vietnam had shown up so huge for the whole of Southeast Asia in 2017 that for the first time as a SEA fan, it felt like we were so close to the LMS and other major regions, who've we've only known up until then to be some untouchable gods we could never be above of. •With how the next year in 2018, the VCS was established as a stand-alone region for Vietnam, and suddenly GPL was left without Taiwan and Vietnam. Leaving only Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and barely Indonesia within it. I was honestly happy for Vietnam that League had grown so strong within their own country, but unfortunately for what's left our scene, we were left without a competitive representative. SEA was reduced to being a bottom-barrel play-in region yet again. In that year, Thailand's Ascension was undoubtedly the best SEA team we had, but SEA fans were left to wake up to the reality that we were just not good enough internationally on our own yet. But even after play-ins, at least for me, I could still smile at incredible showings played by the VCS and LMS, who were doing so well without us. •With how in 2019, I honestly ended up not watching as much of the games for the new League of Legends SEA Tour (LST), and the view count in official streams for the games showed, at least for me, that other SEA fans are just not as passionate as they used to be. It was also around this time that the Mobile Legends revolution really kicked in within Southeast Asia, notably Indonesia and the Philippines. It was still fun to at least see Thailand being really competitive in our scene though, ultimately representing us in MSI and Worlds. They've put up a great fight and at least we had some small wins in as a region. It also was still a delight to see the VCS become this new beast of a region that they're able to go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the world as legit contenders. At the same time, I was personally shocked at how the LMS had such a big fall from grace. It was truly a time to be alive as somebody who's been there since GPL was a thing, but it was also just as melancholic to me as it felt like we were reduced to just mere thousands as fans at best, compared to what we were before collectively. Maybe it's because Vietnam had become what the LMS was to all of us all those years ago, with both being long separated from what's left of SEA. This, on top of the decline of our players as opposed to former years and some language barriers. •And now, with 2020. It was announced the previous year that what's left of SEA would be combined with the LMS again like how it was with GPL back then except without Vietnam this time. Personally it was like getting announced that what's left of SEA would be overshadowed by the LMS again. It was still fine though, because maybe this way our teams would become better through consistently playing with Taiwanese teams who are just undeniably better than them. Though it's the saddest year for the Southeast Asian League of Legends scene to date when there's no MSI to be had, on top of our Vietnamese brothers not having any representatives at Worlds with the way their situation panned out for them. The LMS may still be here for Worlds as the PCS, but the spirit of SEA really isn't. PCS being the LMS and LST-SEA as it may, there's still a visible disconnection from SEA fans and the LMS. Hell, so much so that I don't even know which stream I should say "Good luck, Taiwan! Win it for all of us in SEA!" that genuine Taiwanese fans could read it. It's lonely. But I guess we were never really "like that" to begin with. Even with Vietnam at times over the years. EU looks so peaceful with how their region is doing compared to us and it's a little sad that we couldn't be as structured as them as a region. The line of what's considered to be "Southeast Asian League of Legends" is getting more blurry as the years go by. It's fun to imagine if this happened to other regions. What if Denmark became their own stand-alone region in EU? Or maybe if Canada represented their own region in NA? Imagine what would happen then, now try adding a language barrier to that situation. It's really been sucky and empty for some of us in SEA right now, but only time will tell if things could change for us. But even so, I'll still be here watching however which way we are represented so that Southeast Asian League of Legends would still be alive no matter what. I just posted this so the world could see a glimpse of our region's storyline over the years as a "region". This post was written with only a little bit of researching to jog my memory with what happened to SEA over the years, so please feel free to correct me or share some memorable moments I may have missed. But I still remember most of our history vividly. I'm just one guy in SEA, I couldn't possibly know everything that went down in all of our regional qualifiers that are casted in different languages at times. Though I really hope to be a part of more whatever it is we are in the future. Shoutout to Vietnam, I really hope your region would be up there on the world stage next time. It goes without saying that the rest of SEA know you'll do great in the future. Also shoutout to our PCS teams in PSG Talon and Machi Esports. We hope you win it for all of us in SEA, and thank you for making our teams stronger throughout the years! Fantastic first day for PSG demolishing LGD, by the way! Lastly, shoutout to the next generation of players and fans in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia (yes, even you despite losing your server), Singapore, and the Philippines. Let's all also do our best for our region. I hope we can all grow closer as a region. Mabuhay, you old magnificent bastards. TL;DR: Vietnam isn't at Worlds, and only SofM really is. The LMS overshadows what's left of SEA because they're that much better than our teams, but that's okay because they've been with us since the beginning as GPL (and now as PCS), and should PSG Talon or Machi win Worlds, technically SEA would be part of a two-time World Champion status but Vietnam won't be counted thenhaha.
Here is our comprehensive list of every single mecha anime (and some Tokusatsu) series, OVA, & movie ever made: Important note about Korean works: Korean animation developed a bit late, and Japanese anime had been banned in Korea up until the late 1980s. Due to this fact, combined with the art form being in its infancy in Korea, many older Korean works were blatant knockoffs of Japanese works. These works also typically received extremely poor quality translations if they were translated at all. By the late 1990s Korean animation had finally established its footing and put out better quality and more original content. The best example of this known to english speaking regions is Iron Kid, known as Eon Kid in english. We encourage the embrace of more modern Korean animation, but take heed of this history when exploring the Korean works of old. Other terms: Hentai - This is the term for pornographic anime. While it is extremely rare for a hentai title to be released in the mecha genre, such titles do exist. In the interest of completion we have included these select few titles in the megalist, but they are appropriately noted as such. Viewers be advised. HK Subs - Subtitled in english by english speaking regions in Asia, usually Hong Kong. These are typically lower quality due to the translators not being native english speakers or in some cases limited knowledge of english. The worst cases of these are found on bootleg DVDs which are very prevalent in some Asian countries outside of Japan. HK Dub - On some occasions anime was dubbed in english in english speaking regions of Asia. These usually suffer the same problems as HK subs. The most infamous example is the english dub of Transformers Headmasters and Victory. Fansub - Fan subs are usually good quality subs created by fans for anime that has never received an official license for release in the english speaking western world. A very large portion of the megalist is unlicensed, particularly anime from the 1980s or older. If an anime does get licensed, its fansubbing project will be halted. Official licenses is the universal goal for all the anime we cover. 1963 Mighty Atom/Astro Boy (01/01/1963 - 31/12/1966; 193 episodes first 104 eng dubbed, last 89 eng-sub only) The very first anime, by god of manga Osamu Tezuka. 2020.09.22 00:00 its_my_36th_accountGood writeup on the Hinduphobia promoted by State of California.
The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (CDFEH) is the latest player in a series of negative actions being perpetrated by the State of California against a minority Hindu population in the state. Hindu Americans in California are overwhelmingly productive and lawful contributors to the state’s economy in a variety of industries and capacities, but yet they have unfortunately been singled out and targeted because of their religious beliefs through a barrage of negativity and hatefulness by various agencies and government officials within the State of California. A state’s oppression of a minority community on the basis of their beliefs adversely impacts not only the Hindu American, as in this case, but also all Americans that believe in democratic values. The use of power to oppress is not only unlawful and unethical, but it is also a clear abuse of the processes laid out in the US Constitution by our founding fathers. In a recently filed lawsuit by California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (CDFEH) against Cisco Systems (case number 5:20-cv-04374) under the pretext of discrimination of a Hindu ‘Dalit’ by other fellow Hindus, the complaint contains slurs against Hindu Americans while making false allegations about Hinduism, the religion followed by over 1.3 billion people world wide. This unfortunate approach by a government agency towards Hindus should not be judged in isolation. Instead, it is indicative of greater systemic discrimination being exhibited by the state’s governmental entities against a minority community. Below are simply a few recent examples of California’s rampant Hinduphobia. CALIFORNIA TEXTBOOKS UNFAIRLY DEPICT HINDUISM NEGATIVELY RELATIVE TO ALL OTHER RELIGIONS Over the past decade, there have been many instances of blatant discrimination against Hindus. For example, until recently, California textbooks have been blatantly unfair to Hindus in their description of Hinduism as a religion. Whereas words like ethics and moral teachings, unselfishness, compassion, righteousness, peace, love, law and justice are used for all other major religions including Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism, none of these words were used to describe Hinduism in school textbooks. Whereas Christianity from Judaism and Islam from Christianity are depicted as distinct religions that share common beliefs and history, Buddhism and Jainism are described as improvements or “civilizing forces” from Hinduism. In 2017, prominent Hindu organizations like the Hindu American Foundation and the Hindu Education Foundation worked hard to convince the California Department of Education of the need for basic fairness in their depiction of Hinduism. Comparing the strengths of a few groups with the weakness of another violates every rule of basic decency and fairness, and yet, based on a press release on the Hindu American Foundation website, it took “a broad coalition of more than 75 interfaith and community groups, 17 state and federal officials, and 38 leading academics” to convince the California agency to portray Hinduism in a fair and balanced manner compared to the portrayal of all other religions discussed. To make matters worse, the Hindu children and their parents that patiently went through the process to share their feelings and thoughts with the CA Department of Education, were viciously attacked by the Director of the anti-India and anti-Hindu organization Equality Labs Thenmozhi Soundarajan. This group used abusive remarks towards Dalits and Hindus, while pretending to be the ‘savior’ of Dalits. CA Department of Education has been at the core of Hinduphobic textbook curriculum for decades. Tom Adams, former Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction was later accused of being involved in Hinduphobic malpractices by collaborating with anti-Hindu hate groups. SAN FRANCISCO BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OPPOSES INDIA’S PROTECTION OF HINDU AND SIKH PERSECUTED MINORITIES On July 22, 2020, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors (SFBOS) passed an ill-conceived, ill-researched resolution, to express their displeasure at the Government of India’s humanitarian efforts. In December 2019, the Indian Government had taken steps to help persecuted Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, and other minorities by passing an act called the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In response, the SFBOS passed Resolution 200771 which stated that it opposed India’s exclusionary National Register of Citizens and Citizenship Amendment Act. This is outrageous considering the Indian Government till date has not even passed (nor even considered passing) a National Register of Citizens nor does the CAA preclude any person of any religion from applying for citizenship using the proper channels. In fact, the United States in 1990 had enacted similar legislation called the “Lautenberg Amendment” which does the same thing; it expedited citizenship for certain persecuted religious minorities from the former Soviet Union. The US’ Lautenberg Amendment and India’s Citizenship Amendment Act were humanitarian gestures by secular democracies to protect minorities that were being badly hurt, tortured, or killed in their native countries. It is disgraceful that the SFBOS didn’t bother to do any due diligence prior to collectively wasting taxpayer money and passing this insulting and offensive resolution. Instead, Supervisor Gordon Mar, the former Director of the Chinese Progressive Association and the main sponsor of this resolution, stated the following before the vote: “India’s Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the National Register of Citizens (NRC), and the National Population Register (NPR) is rooted in the far-right Hindu nationalist ideology of the Modi/Shah regime in his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Together they lay the legal foundation to denaturalize millions of Indian minorities to create the largest network of concentration camps in the world. Since the act was passed last December, and especially during COVID, Muslims and other vulnerable communities, including Dalits, queers, and trans people, women, and the poor are being profiled and treated as second-class citizens and imprisoned in massive detention centers being built in India. Last August, the Indian government required 33 million people to prove their citizenship in the state of Assam, denaturalizing almost 2 million mostly Muslim Indians, rendering them stateless.” This statement is egregiously defamatory, blatantly false, irresponsible, and wrong on so many levels: the NPR and NCC have not even been discussed by the Indian parliament nor passed into law; the CAA does not discuss or affect the citizenship of any Indian citizen, including that of any Indian Muslim; there is no evidence of concentration camps being built across India; and the NRC that was conducted in Assam was done on the order of the Indian Supreme Court not on the orders of the BJP government. Interestingly, Supervisor Mar then thanked the people who helped bring this resolution to the forefront, and among those, was Sharmin Hossain from Equality Labs.San Francisco Board of Supervisors (seen above) not only passed an anti humanitarian resolution on July 22, 2020, but also made false remarks about the largest democracy in the world CA DEPARTMENT OF FAIR EMPLOYMENT AND HOUSING (CDFEH) MAKES INFLAMMATORY AND FALSE STATEMENTS AGAINST HINDUS AND HINDU TRADITIONS And now we witness yet one more example of blatant Hinduphobia by a California governmental department. On June 30, 2020, the CDFEH filed a lawsuit against Cisco Systems on behalf of a Cisco employee alleging workplace discrimination on the basis of caste. While the discrimination issue itself is a matter for the courts, it’s appalling to witness that the complaint as-drafted is blatantly offensive to Hindus by openly linking casteism to the Hindu faith. This claim linking the two, which has been debunked by many scholars world-wide, is as offensive as linking slavery to the tenets of Christianity. And, to make matters worse, the entire case is seemingly predicated on the poor research, false statements and superficial articles that have originated from the same two-person anti-Hindu organization Equality Labs mentioned repeatedly above. For example, the complaint prominently utilizes a 2018 Caste “Survey” conducted by Equality Labs that neither follows accepted standards nor norms of statistical surveys. The survey purports to find evidence of caste-based discrimination in the United States. However, it is interesting to note that there is no evidence that the survey was ever disseminated among any Hindu temples or mainstream Hindu organizations. The Hindu community at large seems to have been excluded from a survey that purports to measure discrimination in the Hindu community. The details of data collection or the process followed are surprisingly not even mentioned in this “survey”, but yet it was used by a California governmental entity to insult a major contributor to the Silicon Valley economy: the Hindu population. To make matters worse, the complaint is replete with racist anti-immigrant statements against a minority community that has been facing a growing level of discrimination and hate crimes in this country. In fact, since 2015, the FBI has recorded about a 300% increase in anti-Hindu hate crimes annually. And yet, this CDFEH complaint makes general statements devoid of context with the effect of further igniting flames against this community. For instance, the complaint states that Cisco has a significant “over representation” of Asian employees compared to other companies in this field. This is a blatantly deceptive statement. Cisco is a tech company headquartered in the Bay Area; its industry and its location would naturally lead to a higher percentage of Asian employees. The inclusion of this statement is baffling; it clearly had no relevance to the issues of the complaint. CONCLUSION There are many other examples of anti-Hindu/anti-India behavior being orchestrated by the progressive organizations and governmental agencies across California in recent years. Hindu Americans are and have always been positive, productive contributors to their families, their companies, their societies, and to the country. They are one of the most highly educated demographics in the United States. And they are not usually the community to claim the victim status. However, some patterns of unethical and harmful behavior become too blatant to ignore, and any American who cherishes the values of democracy would be foolish to do so. It is simply a matter of time before the propaganda machinations come for them too. https://medium.com/@dyalade4/state-of-californias-rampant-hinduphobia-a70bf3b39d71
2020.09.18 16:47 BuckRowdy[Update] The rise and fall and the depths of depravity of pedophile Jared Fogle from Subway.
This is an updated and edited version of a post I originally submitted at /redditcrimecommunity. It's been updated with the latest info. I used to be kind of obsessed with the idea of Jared from Subway. He always seemed like nothing more than wallpaper in a commercial, a guy whose job amounted to holding up a comically giant pair of pants for seconds at a time in commercials. How much do you think they paid that guy to do that? I used to search to see if I could find out Jared's salary or his net worth because to me it seemed like he had the easiest job in the world. Just stand there and smile, hold up the giant pants, shake a few kids hands at store openings and other corporate promotional events; essentially play the character of Jared from the Subway commercials. The Midwestern everyman who once weighed over 425 pounds and lost it all by eating at Subway every day. Of course the fine print at the bottom of the screen gave the wider context to his weight loss routine, but there was a much wider, much darker context to Jared's story that would only be revealed years later. Jared started working for Subway in 2000. By 2005 they had stopped featuring him in commercials and their sales declined by 10%. They quickly reinstated him and he was a fixture ever since. It is true that Jared didlose the weight, and he did do it in part by eating at Subway. At this point it would be reasonable to ask how did he get the money as a college student to eat all his meals at Subway? Because he was running a porn video rental business out of his apartment at the time and had an extensive collection. You've got to remember that this was in an era where media of all types was more difficult to obtain. You didn't have everything at your fingertips back then. Subway opened up on the ground floor and Jared was lazy so he started eating all his meals there. The rest of Jared's story is marketing mythology. A friend wrote an article in the student newspaper that got published in Men's Health which caught the eye of Subway's marketing department. Jared started working for Subway in 2000 and up until about 2007 it appeared to be a marketing master stroke. That's when the reports started trickling out. In 2007, TMZ published the story about the porn rental business. We'd learn later that as early as 2008, Subway had received serious reports about Jared from a franchisee in Florida that Jared had befriended at a few store openings. Cindy Mills, the franchisee said:
Jared was up to no good for years, but his world really started to crumble in 2015 with the arrest of Russell Taylor. Taylor was Jared's partner in his non-profit charity and he was just as bad as Jared if not worse.
Taylor had gotten in trouble for texting a woman a picture of bestiality and suggesting such between the two of them. It's a sick thing to think about, but that's just what Jared and Russell were up to.
In one of those text messages, according to the affidavit, “Russell Taylor asked her if he and another adult female she identified could come to Jane Doe’s residence and engage in” an act of bestiality. The woman did not agree to that request, but told investigators “you could tell (Taylor) was serious.” She also told investigators that “she received an image file via text from Russell Taylor that depicted (another act of bestiality).”
Jared's house was raided and the rest quickly became history. Subway dropped him. Sharknado 3 dropped him. Jared accused Taylor of fraud and sued him. One quarter of the funds of the charity were unaccounted for, and the only money they ever paid out went to Taylor's $73k salary. I'm no professional but it's hard not to draw the conclusion that Jared was paying Taylor to produce child porn with a non profit charity. The world found out about Jared in 2015, but in 2007 and 2008 two women were finding out a lot about Jared. Jared had met a franchisee in Florida and started a sexual relationship with her. She called the FBI when Jared started texting stuff like this:
"I still can't believe you only paid $100 for her."
Fogle reponds: "It was amazing!!!!"
"What part of her ad made you think she was selling sex?" the woman asked.
Fogle says "U will have to read them to see."
The woman got a lawyer and submitted the texts to Subway who sat on them. Around the same time, Jared met Rochelle Herman Walrond, a journalist who initially remained anonymous, who came forward and said that she got suspicious about Jared when he called middle school girls hot
She contacted the FBI who asked her to wear a wire. She went on to record Jared over a nearly 5 year period, pleading with the FBI to go ahead and arrest him with them always saying that they didn't have enough evidence and needed more. So she tried to get Jared to incriminate himself. Over that 4.5 year period they talked about a lot of stuff, like that Jared wanted to fly to Thailand to have sex with children.
"I would fly all three of us clear across the world if we need to,"[Jared] says on the tape. "It would just make things a lot easier — if we're going to try and get some young kids with us. It would be a lot easier probably."
He gave her grooming tips:
"Well, if we get them segregated out ... you know, start talking or whatever ... and we get a little closer, and a little closer and a little closer and before you know it ... it just starts to happen," the man's voice says. "But I think that girl from the broken home could be a possibility, you know."
He daydreamed on the phone:
"Do you want to watch me f— a young girl, too?" the voice of Fogle asks. "Will you f— a young boy?" When Herman-Walrond asks if that would turn Fogle on, he responds with a whispered "yeah." “I had a little boy. It was amazing,” Fogle reportedly said, in response to a question about being with children. “It just felt so good. I mean, it felt—it felt so good.”
“I had two young children at the time, and he talked to me about installing hidden cameras in their rooms and asked me if I would choose which child I would like him to watch,” she told Inside Edition.
Fogle received "images and videos of nude of partially clothed minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct," which were allegedly recorded by Russell Taylor, the former director of the Jared Foundation. Taylor secretly filmed some of the minors in his home using hidden cameras that captured them changing clothes and bathing.
Taylor was in possession of 400 videos of child pornography upon his arrest. In 2011, someone else reported Jared to Subway via their website and yet nothing happened. All this came raining down on Jared in 2015 when his house was raided and he was arrested and later charged with 14 acts of sex involving minors. He was ultimately sentenced to 15 years in jail and had to pay restitution to his 14 of his many victims totaling $1.4 million. His wife divorced him as quick as she could, Subway cut ties with him and the dominoes started to tumble. All of a sudden the past reports about Jared came to light and Subway didn't have an explanation. Lawsuits started flying. Jared's now ex wife accused Subway of covering up Jared's pedophilia even from her because their marriage made Jared more grounded and more marketable. It's now a sick joke, but at the same time of jared's arrest, Subway was trying to rebrand him as a family man. So why didn't Subway act on the various reports it had gotten about Jared over the years? As this site puts it, it was a story bookended by laziness. Jared's laziness brought him to Subway, and their laziness in vetting stories led to the end of the Jared era with a lot of human misery left in his wake.
Later that same year, a brawl broke out and Jared was nearly killed in an attack meant to send a message to all pedophiles. Other than that, rumor has it that Jared has it pretty easy in jail which is disappointing to hear given all that he's responsible for. In 2017, Fogle tried to pull the Sovereign Citizen defense and claim that the feds didn't have jurisdiction over him which I imagine gave the feds a good laugh. The motion was dismissed. In 2018, Jared sued to void his conviction going so far as to name the president (among others) as a defendant. It was unclear how the president was involved and Jared was forced to remove him as a defendant. He claimed:
His suit was dismissed. That same year a woman pen pal of Jared's sold their racy letters to Radar Online. Seen here and here. She also sold a recorded phone call where she and Jared discuss porn and his sexual preferences. If he wanted to appeal to a parole board, surely sending hand-drawn pictures of his genitalia that later end up on radar online is not a good strategy. In March 2020, three of associate Russell Taylor's child pornography convictions were overturned for ineffective counsel. He still faces trial on 9 other charges. In the five years since Fogle was arrested, Subway has been reeling. In 2015, their co-founder passed away and a new CEO was brought in. Internal reports indicate that customer traffic is down 30%. They've laid off over 400 people from the corporate HQ and this summer they had to revoke a promotion due to a franchisee revolt over the pricing. Subway was associated so long with Jared it may take time for customers to form a new association. They tried to drop him once, struggled, and re-hired him. Clearly Subway lived in denial while Jared was their spokesman and looked the other way as business boomed. The new marketing strategy involves athletes. Time will only tell if they can recover from one of the worst scandals to ever hit a sandwich chain. As of September 2020, Russell Taylor was being held at a federal prison in Yazoo City, Mississippi; Fogle was being held at a federal prison in Littleton, Colorado.

Match analysis Fiorentina will be looking for another win after a 1-3 Serie A success over SPAL.In that match, Fiorentina managed 49% possession and 28 shots at goal with 11 on target. For Fiorentina, goals were scored by Alfred Duncan (30'), Christian Kouamé (89') and Erick Pulgar (94'). SPAL got 8 attempts on goal with 4 on target. Marco D'Alessandro (39') was the scorer for SPAL.Their more recent scorelines show that things are going according to plan in the Fiorentina defence. La Viola have kept it tight, resulting in the number of goals that have gone in at their end over the course of their past 6 outings standing at 4. That kind of pattern won’t necessarily be continued into this match, of course. In their last game, Torino drew 1-1 in the Serie A match with Bologna. In that game, Torino had 44% possession and 15 attempts on goal with 9 of them on target. The scorer for Torino was Simone Zaza (66'). Bologna got 19 attempts on goal with 5 of them on target. Mattias Svanberg (18') scored for Bologna. The stats tell the story, and Torino have been scored against in 5 of their last 6 games, seeing their opponents hit 8 goals overall. At the back, Il Toro have seen their frailties exposed. Fiorentina WWDLWW Torino WLDDLD Team News Fiorentina boss Giuseppe Iachini has no fitness worries to speak of ahead of this match thanks to a fully healthy squad available to choose from.Torino boss Marco Giampaolo has not got a full squad to pick from. Wilfried Stephane Singo (Shoulder Injury) and Daniele Baselli (Ruptured cruciate ligament) miss out here. Formula 1 and Feeder Series Guide to Le Mans
words by BosleyTree, Prowler760, redbullcat, and flipjj The Formula 1 ladder is notoriously hard to climb. There are not enough seats for all talented drivers that we watch in the lower formulae, so many drivers never make it to the pinnacle of motorsports. But many of them do find their way into the greatest race in the world: the 24 Heures du Mans. Usually run in the summer, 2020 had other plans, but it is finally time to go racing at the Circuit de la Sarthe. As floodman11 has already written the definite Le Mans guide (seriously, go read it if you have not done it yet, it is fabulous), the Formula1 Editorial Team, with some help from our good friends at F1FeederSeries (huge thank you for your help, fellas!), decided to go over some drivers that we have seen on that ladder. Some have reached Formula 1, others have had to find other options. But this weekend, they will all share the same track.
Team: #3 Rebellion Racing (LMP1) F1 history: HRT 2010, Lotus 2011, Williams 2012. 46 career starts, 33 points Nephew of the famous Ayrton Senna, Bruno spent three years in F1. He began at the new entrant for 2010, Hispania, or HRT, but the team was underfunded with a car that clearly wasn’t up to standard. His best finish that year was a 14th at the Korean Grand Prix, with a score of no points at the end of the year. For 2011, he spent the first half of the year as test and reserve driver at Renault, sponsored by Lotus, evoking his uncle’s time with Lotus-Renault in 1986 and 1987. Curiously, in the 80s, the Renault team had been known as Toleman - his uncle’s first team in F1. He replaced Nick Heidfeld for the Belgian Grand Prix and stayed for the rest of the year, scoring his first points at the Italian Grand Prix. However, he had no more points finishes and was replaced by Romain Grosjean for 2012. He then found a seat at Williams, another of Ayrton’s old teams - again powered by Renault, same as in 1994. This was by far his most successful year in Formula 1, scoring 31 points and finishing 16th in the championship, with a best finish of 6th at the Malaysian Grand Prix. He was dropped by Williams for 2013, replaced with Finnish rookie Valtteri Bottas. Endurance Career His uncle’s death stunted his career for a few years, and he was already 21 when he reached British F3. With that sort of unusual path to Formula 1, it is natural that sportscars features on his resume. Senna competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time in 2009 (one year before his debut in Formula 1), while also driving for Team Oreca in the European Le Mans Series (2 P3s being his best results during that season). His first finish in the 24 Hours would come in 2014, coming home 6th in GTE-Pro for Aston Martin (‘09 and ‘13 ending in DNFs, first with Oreca, next with Aston Martin). He would finish every 24 Hour since, 10th in 2016 and 14th in 2017 in LPM2, finishing 4th in both 2018 and 2019 for Rebellion Racing in LMP1. Outside of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, he has competed in every season of the World Endurance Championship since 2013 (sitting out 2015), first in GTE-Pro with Aston Martin for two years, next in LMP2 for another two years, first with RGR Sport by Morand, next with Vaillante Rebellion, before moving to LMP1 with Rebellion for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons. He was WEC champion in 2017 with Vaillante, after being runner-up in 2016 with RGR Sport, and currently sits in 3rd place for Rebellion. Senna also competed occasionally in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, his best result being three 4th place finishes, one for Tequila Patrón ESM in 2017, and the other two for United Autosports in the only two races he took part in 2018.
Team: Toyota #7 F1 history: 2009 Toyota, Sauber 2010-2012, Caterham 2014. 75 career starts, 125 points Upon Kamui Kobayashi’s debut for Toyota at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2009, Jenson Button described the Japanese driver as ‘crazy, very aggressive’. He replaced Timo Glock, who was recovering from injuries from a crash in practice for the Japanese Grand Prix, for both the Brazilian race and the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. By all accounts, despite Button’s comments, he impressed the paddock while scoring 3 points, and was in the frame for a full-time seat for the manufacturer in 2010. However, it was not to be. Toyota pulled out of F1 for 2010, so Kobayashi found a seat at Sauber, where he remained for the following 3 seasons, finishing 12th in the championship for 3 successive seasons, with a best points score of 60 in 2012. He also scored his only F1 podium that season, at his home race in Japan, to the delight of his fans. He lost his drive for 2013, however, and only found another F1 seat in 2014, at Caterham. However, the team was on its way out, facing huge financial problems, meaning Kobayashi languished at the back of the grid for most of the year, with a best finish of 13th at the Malaysian and Monaco Grands Prix. Endurance Career Kobayashi moved into the WEC after losing his drive for 2013, racing for AF Corse, with a P2 and three P3s in eight races. After another year of Formula 1 in 2014 and a foray into Super Formula in 2015, he was drafted into the Toyota Gazoo Racing effort in the WEC for 2016, winning his first race in the series at Fuji (and finishing the season in 3rd place), before a couple of wins in 2018-2019 (and a second place finish for the season and also at Le Mans). This season, he is leading the championship, with three wins so far. A Le Mans win, however, still eludes Kobayashi-san, with three second place finishes in 2016, 2018, and 2019 on his record.
F1 history: Scuderia Toro Rosso, 2009-2011. 55 career starts, 29 points
F1 history: Williams, 2007-2009. 36 career starts, 9 points
F1 history: Scuderia Toro Rosso, 2017-2018. 25 career starts, 4 points The Toyota #8 is the only car where more than 1 driver has F1 experience - and it’s not just got 2, it has 3! Both Buemi and Hartley did their F1 time at Scuderia Toro Rosso. Buemi spent 3 years at the team, from 2009 to 2011, scoring a total of 29 points, with his best finish coming in 2011, 15th in the championship with 15 points. His best finish was 7th place, at the 2009 Australian Grand Prix - his debut - and again in Brazil, also in 2009. Hartley, meanwhile, only spent 1 year and change at Toro Rosso. This curiously came about after the bulk of his LMP1 experience with Porsche - whereas most other drivers have started in F1 then moved into other racing disciplines. Nonetheless, the Kiwi found himself in an F1 seat for the 2017 US Grand Prix as part of the musical chairs that happened prior to the race. He continued in the seat for the rest of the year, but was unable to score any points. He was confirmed at the team for 2018 but had a lacklustre year, scoring 4 points with a best finish of 9 at the US Grand Prix, a year after his debut. Finally, Kazuki Nakajima - son of former F1 driver Satoru Nakajima - drove for Williams in F1, debuting in the 2007 Brazilian Grand Prix, replacing Alexander Wurz. He was retained for 2008, scoring 9 points with a best finish of 6th in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. On the back of this he stayed on for 2009, but had a less successful season and was dropped at the end of the year. Endurance Careers Buemi is a WEC veteran, competing in every season since 2012 with Toyota in LMP1. He has two WEC championships (2014 and 2018-2019), 2 wins at Le Mans (2018 and 2019). He also did two races in the WeatherTech SportsCars Championship in 2017, with 8th at Daytona being his best result. He was also part of the crew of the 2016 Toyota that was leading the 24 Hours of Le Mans before the car broke down with 5 minutes to go (with Nakajima at the wheel, Anthony Davidson was the third driver), which is still one of the cruellest results in Le Mans history. Winning the next two (with Nakajima and Fernando Alonso) is obviously an amazing result, but no one would fault him for still having nightmares about that 2016 race. Hartley competed in the WEC for the first time in 2012, running the Murphy Prototype Oreca in LMP2 at Spa, Le Mans, and Silverstone (P3, DNF, P9), before trying his hand again at Le Mans (P7). He also raced in the European Le Mans Series for the team, winning at Le Castellet in 2013 and finishing the season in 5th place. He then moved into the Porsche Team starting in 2014, winning the championship twice (2015 and 2017), coming home P2 and winning in those same years. He would race at Sebring for SMP Racing in the 2018-2019 season (P3), before joining the Toyota Gazoo Racing team for 2019-2020, with a win at Fuji and five P2s in the other races. Hartley has also raced in the WeatherTech SportsCars Championship (and its predecessor in 2013), doing spot work for a number of teams, his best result being a win in 2017 for Tequila Patrón ESM at Petit Le Mans. And finally, Nakajima has competed in the WEC with Toyota since 2012, winning 4 times at Fuji and winning the championship in 2018-2019. As mentioned earlier, he was at the wheel when Toyota faltered in 2016 with only 5 minutes to go, winning the two 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 2018-2019 season. This crew sits in second place in the championship, trailing the other Toyota by 12 points (137-125).
Team: #3 Rebellion Racing (LMP1) Current Series: FIA Formula 2 (2017-Present) Known For: 2015 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup Runner-Up, 2015 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC Champion, 2016 Formula V8 3.5 Runner-Up Delétraz made his feeder series debut in the 2012 Formula BMW grand final event, taking 3 poles and 1 win. Three years followed at the Formula Renault 2.0 level where he competed in both the Eurocup and NEC championships, winning the latter in 2015 and finishing runner-up in the former in the same year. He progressed to the then newly rebranded Formula V8 3.5 championship where a tight battle between himself and Tom Dillmann went down to the last race of the season, with Delétraz eventually losing out by 7 points. Since then, Delétraz has been in Formula 2, and while he hasn’t set the world alight in his 4 seasons, he has been on the podium on more than a few occasions and challenged for race wins, making him a safe pair of hands for any team looking for a consistent points scorer. Endurance Career Delétraz has no prior experience racing in LMP1 machinery, at least, in the real world. He was part of the winning squad for the 2020 Virtual Le Mans race in June (also racing with Rebellion), so this year's race will be a great indication of whether his talents can transfer from digital to physical and if endurance racing can be a long-term career move for him.
Team: #1 Rebellion Racing (LMP1) Current Series: WEC (2016-Present) Known For: 2016 WEC LMP2 class Champion, 2016 Le Mans 24h LMP2 class victor, 2018-19 WEC LMP1 class third place While he is mostly known for his endurance racing exploits these days Gustavo Menezes came through the junior formulas like many before him. Came through Karting in the 2000’s competing in North America, Asia, and Europe before making his full season debut in cars in 2011. A pair of seasons focusing mainly on the Star Mazda Championship and making appearances in Formula Renault 2.0 in Europe was the theme of 2011-12 but it was the move to German F3 in 2013 that brought success to him. A pair of wins and some podiums saw him finish 4th overall. The final two years of his junior formula career saw him compete in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship and he would be featured mostly in the midfield with a pair of podiums as the highlight. Endurance Career Before making the full time switch ahead of the 2016 season Menezes had made some appearances in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship but it would be the first season with Signatech-Alpine in the WEC that would bring his first successes in endurance racing. Class win at Le Mans and overall in the championship. A second slightly less season followed before he made the move to LMP1 with Rebellion Racing where he’s been since. While there he’s experienced a trio of overall race victories and additional podium finishes.
Juan Pablo Montoya
Team: Dragonspeed (Oreca) #21 F1 history: Williams 2001-2004, McLaren 2005-2006. 94 career starts, 307 points Juan Pablo Montoya entered F1 in a blaze of glory in 2001, having won the CART championship in 1999 and the Indianapolis 500 on his first attempt in 2000. However, his first four races in F1 for Williams saw non-finishes before a maiden podium - and therefore finish - with a P2 at the Spanish Grand Prix. He got his first win at the Italian Grand Prix later that year and finished the season 6th with 31 points. The next two seasons saw him finish third in the championship, with no wins in 2002 and one in 2003, the Monaco Grand Prix. These two seasons were to be the peak of his F1 career, however. In 2004, he could only manage fifth as Williams’ relationship with BMW deteriorated. For 2005 he moved to McLaren but only finished fourth as his teammate Kimi Raikkonen challenged Fernando Alonso for the championship. 2006 was the year it all fell apart, with an unsuccessful half season causing a falling out with McLaren, and Montoya left the team after the US Grand Prix for pastures new in NASCAR. Endurance Career JPM has had a diverse career and he obviously has taken part in his share of endurance races. He competed many times at the 24 Hours of Daytona, starting in 2007, which he won, before repeating the feat in 2008 and 2013. He has competed in the WeatherTech SportsCars Championship since 2017 (winning the championship in 2019 for Acura Team Penske) and took part in the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2018 for United Autosports, finishing 3rd in class and 7th overall. I cannot WAIT for Montoya to win his class so the arguments about whether he has achieved the Triple Crown can start. This will be a great moment in insane motorsports arguments history and I cannot wait! We can expect heated battle between many different camps, both for and against, and it should be excellent entertainment for the bystanders. (flipjj)
Paul di Resta
Team: United Autosports (Oreca) #22 F1 history: Force India, 2011-2013. 59 career starts, 121 points Scottish driver Paul di Resta, cousin of successful IndyCar driver Dario Franchitti, spent three seasons in F1, all at Force India, from 2011-2013. His best season in the sport was his last, finishing 2013 with 48 points, 12th in the championship with a best finish of fourth at the Bahrain Grand Prix. He was not retained for 2014 however, and has since found a home on Sky Sports F1 as a pundit and presenter, with a one-off appearance for Williams in 2017 at the Hungarian Grand Prix, replacing an unwell Felipe Massa. Endurance Career di Resta did spot work in the WeatherTech SportsCars Championship for United Autosports in 2018, racing three times and coming home 4th twice and 5th, before going into the European Le Mans Series in 2019 for the same team for the first race of the season (P6), before joining their WEC challenge in 2019-2020. He sits in P2 in the championship, with 3 wins so far. He also competed in both 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 2018-2019 season, not finishing the first and coming home in 4th in class and 9th overall.
Team: G-Drive (Oreca) #26 F1 history: Scuderia Toro Rosso, 2012-2014. 58 career starts, 51 points Another Scuderia Toro Rosso reject, Jean-Eric Vergne, aka JEV, spent three seasons with the Italian team, from 2012-2014. His best championship finish came in 2014, 13th with 22 points, although his best race finish came the year previous, a sixth at the Canadian Grand Prix. At the end of 2014, with Sebastian Vettel leaving Red Bull for Ferrari, it was between JEV and Daniil Kvyat for the coveted Red Bull seat, but Kvyat won out over Vergne, who was dropped for 2015. Endurance Career JEV raced in LMP2 in 2017 and for one race in 2018-2019, his best result being a 3rd place at Mexico in 2017. He competed is the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2017, 2018, and 2019, with a couple of P6s in class bookending his disqualification in 2018. Vergne has also raced in the European Le Mans Series since 2018, winning four races for G-Drive Racing. He has only taken part in one race in 2020, finishing in second place at Le Castellet.
Giedo van der Garde
Team: Racing Team Nederland (Oreca) #29 F1 history: Caterham, 2013. 19 career starts, 0 points Like many F1 rejects, van der Garde spent a single season in F1, driving for Caterham in 2013. He scored no points over the year, with his best finish coming at the Hungarian Grand Prix, in 14th. He was among the 5 drivers signed to race for Sauber in 2014, but didn’t get a race seat, instead ending up as test driver. Endurance career Garde's endurance racing career is a lot more successful. Starting in the European Le Mans Series with G-Drive, he won the championship in his first and only year (2016), winning 2 races and having 2 P5s as his worst results. After a couple of races with G-Drive in LMP2 in the WEC, he joined full time in 2018 and currently is 4th in the championship, with a win at Fuji this season. His best result at Le Mans is a 7th in class for Racing Team Nederland in 2018. For 2020, he will again race for Team Racing Nederland, sharing the car with F2 champion Nyck De Vries. (h/t to zulamun)
Team: Eurasia Motorsport (Ligier) #35 F1 history: Manor Marussia, 2015. 13 starts, 0 points Mehri spent one year in Formula 1 with Manor Marussia in 2015. The last remaining team of the 2010 entrants, this was the underfunded Marussia’s final year in the sport. As a result, Mehri scored no points, with a best finish of 12th at the British Grand Prix, and was dropped for 2016. Endurance Career Mehri competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016 for Manor, the team not finishing the race, sadly. His best result in the WEC that season was a 3rd place in Spa-Francorchamps, before returning for one race in 2017 at the Nürburgring (they would finish 9th)
Team: Jackie Chan DC Racing (Oreca) #37 F1 history: Caterham 2014, Manor Marussia, 2015. 18 starts, 0 points Essex man Will Stevens made his F1 debut for Caterham at their final race, the 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, finishing 17th. In 2015, he found a seat at Manor Marussia alongside Roberto Mehri, his only full year in the sport. Much like Mehri, Stevens scored no points, recording a 13th place at the British Grand Prix, his best finish. Endurance Career Stevens found better results in the WEC, however. He started competing in 2016 with Manor, switching to G-Drive after the first two races, before skipping 2017 and coming back with Jackie Chan DC Racing in 2018-2019. He currently sits third in the championship, with three P2 finishes and one P3. Stevens also joined the JMW Motorsport team for the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans in GTE-Am, winning the race along with Robert Smith and Dries Vanthoor.
Team: Jota Sport (Oreca) #38 F1 history: Minardi 2002, BAR 2005, Super Auguri 2007-2008. 24 starts, 0 points. Davidson spent many years as British American Racing’s test and reserve driver, from 2000 to 2006. However, he first raced in F1 for Minardi in 2002, replacing Alex Yoong for the Hungarian and Belgian Grands Prix, although he failed to finish both events. He was given his big break in 2007, racing for Honda’s B-team Super Aguri. However, unlike his teammate Takuma Sato, he was unable to score any points, finishing a career best of 11th in the Spanish, Canadian and US Grands Prix. He was retained for 2008, but due to a lack of funding the team closed its doors four races into the year, ending Davidson’s F1 race career. Endurance Career Ant has a long history in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, competing in the great race for the first time in 2003. He returned in 2009 to score his first finish, sharing the car with Jos Verstappen, before finding success with Toyota Gazoo Racing, finishing 2nd and 3rd in 2013 and 2014, respectively. He was part of the 2016 trio that saw victory slip from their grasp with 5 minutes to go, finishing second in the following race. He did not compete in 2018, returning in 2019 with DragonSpeed in LMP2 (sharing the car with Pastor Maldonado), but they did not finish. And yes, Pastor crashed the car that day. And won the WEC title in 2014 and finished third in 2013 and 2017, and his Jota Sport team sits in 7th in the championship, with a win in Shanghai so far this season.
Team: #50 Richard Mille Racing Team (LMP2) Current Series: FIA Formula 3 (2020-Present), European Le Mans Series* Known For: Massive Accident in 2018 Macau GP Flörsch has been a big name in the feeder categories since her debut back in 2016, for perhaps not always the best reasons. Massively outspoken about women in racing, Flörsch has gained a reputation for her ‘no-bullshit’ attitude. Unfortunately, though she has taken a couple of reverse grid podiums back in her Formula 4 days, her successes on track have not come that frequently. She is obviously more known for her crash during the 2018 Macau Grand Prix, where her car was launched into the photographers stand leaving her with serious injuries. Not to be deterred, she has come back to racing and is currently racing in FIA Formula 3, though with little to show for it so far. Endurance Career In preparation for the 2020 Le Mans race, she took part in the Paul Ricard round of the European Le Mans Series with the Richard Mille Racing Team, so she has got some experience driving in LMP2. However, Le Mans is a different beast, so expectations should not be too high for a rookie to the event.
Nyck de Vries
Team: #29 Racing Team Nederland (LMP2) Current Series: Formula E (2019-Present), WEC (2018-Present) Known For: 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup Champion, 2019 FIA Formula 2 Champion, Former McLaren JunioAudi Academy Driver De Vries has been in the headlines since he was added to the McLaren Young Driver Programme at the beginning of 2010, before going on to win the Karting World Championship that same year. As one of the youngest drivers to join the academy at the time, he was heralded as a future star for the team. However, a lot of that career momentum was dead as it took the Dutch driver three years to win the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup championship in 2014. Stepping up to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2015, he finished 3rd on his first attempt, though still significantly behind the series eventual winner Oliver Rowland. A sideways move to GP3 alongside teammates and future Formula 1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Alexander Albon followed in 2016, with De Vries eventually finishing 8th. In 2017, De Vries finally made his way to Formula 2, where he once again took three years to finally become champion of the series in 2019, though this time some 50 points clear of Nicholas Latifi. Just before winning the title, he signed up with Mercedes to be part of their Formula E squad for the 2019-20 season, where he remains today. Endurance Career Before officially leaving McLaren in 2019, De Vries was already looking for a career outside of Formula 1, firstly by getting picked up by Audi and their Academy in 2016. But it was with Racing Team Nederland where he made his debut in Endurance Racing in 2018 driving LMP2 machinery. Since then, he has raced consistently with the team in the WEC, including last year’s Le Mans race where his team finished 26th overall. De Vries has the experience racing in the WEC now, so one would expect his second attempt at Le Mans should go a lot better.
Team: #39 SO24-HAS by Graff (LMP2) Current Series: Super Formula (2020-Present) Known For: Triumphed at Monaco in Formula Renault Eurocup A prominent karter who achieved strong results in the German and WSK series but never reached the same heights in the European and World champions. Made his car racing debut in the centrally run French F4 championship in 2017 grabbing a few wins through the season. Guest appearances in the Formula Renault Eurocup and NEC series the same year brought his name to a wider audience. A dedicated campaign in Formula Renault Eurocup followed the following year which yielded a pair of wins and an advanced position in the standings. De moved to the Japanese F3 Championship for 2019 but an interrupted campaign saw him finish 9th in his debut season and have been due to compete in Super Formula this year. Endurance Career His only previous experience of sportscar racing being a pair of races in the Masters Endurance Legends series before getting to call to replace the outgoing Alexandre Cougnaud in the #39 Graff Oreca 07.
Team: #37 Jackie Chan DC Racing Current Series: WEC (2018-Present) & ELMS (2020-Present) Known For: 2015 French Formula 4 3rd place finisher, 2018-19 WEC LMP2 Class Runner-up, 2019 Le Mans 24h LMP2 Class Runner-up Aubry did not begin in karting until he was 11 but had multiple entries across Europe with the highlight being a third place finish in the Andrea Margutti Trophy in 2013. His inaugural season came in French F4 and with one race win and numerous podiums he came third overall. A pair of seasons in Formula Renault 2.0 followed, culminating in a trio of victories and fifth overall in 2017. 2018 saw him move to GP3, which saw muted results, but he would also make his first steps in endurance racing. Endurance Career Debuting in the final pair of rounds in the 2017-19 Asian Le Mans series, he drove an LMP3 car for Jackie Chan DC Racing and would taste success early on with a class win in the final round. The relationship continued through the 2018-19 WEC season in the LMP2 class with three further class victories and more podium finishes resulting in 2nd in class overall. Further in-class podium finishes have been achieved at the start of the 2019-20 WEC season in conjunction with an ELMS campaign together with Algarve Pro Racing. He has also competed in the Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours.
Team: Risi Competizione (Ferrari) #82 Formula 1 history: Scuderia Toro Rosso 2008-2009. 27 starts, 0 points. Bourdais came into F1 off the back of four consecutive Champ Car championships, from 2004-2007, so expectations were high for the Frenchman. Driving for Scuderia Toro Rosso, however, he never quite hit the highs he almost certainly has the talent for. He took part in one full season, in 2008, with a best finish of 7th on his debut at the Australian Grand Prix, although he did run as high as fourth before his engine gave out a few laps from the end. He later equalled this at the Belgian Grand Prix, his only two points finishes of the year. He continued with Toro Rosso for 2009 but was replaced by Jaime Alguersuari for the second half of the season after scoring 2 points all year. Endurance Career A Le Mans native, Bourdais first competed in the 24 Hours in 1999, aged 20. He would record his first classified finish the following year, racing for legendary Pescarolo Sport, coming home in 4th place, a result he would repeat the following year. He raced for Peugeot after that, scoring three P2 finishes in 2007, 2009, and 2011, before winning in 2016 driving the new Ford GT. He also raced in a few races in the American Le Mans Series, winning at Sebring in 2006 for Multimatic Motorsports Team Panoz and finishing in second place in 2009 and 2010 for Team Peugeot Total in the stunning Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. Bourdais has also competed in the WeatherTech SportsCars Championship since 2014 (although not full time), winning the Rolex 24 at Daytona twice (2014 and 2017), and Petit Le Mans once (2015). He has also finished second twice at Daytona (2015 and 2018), coming home in 3rd place earlier this year, before Covid wrecked all plans for 2020. Although he has no wins this season, he sits in 2nd place in the championship for JDC-Mustang Sampling Racing, with three P3 and two P4 finishes in the season’s five races so far. He even raced in the Bathurst 1000 in 2015, finishing 9th for Charlie Schwerkolt Racing.
Team: Porsche #91 Formula 1 history: Minardi 2004. 18 starts, 0 points. It would be hard to fault anyone for not knowing Gianmaria “Gimmi” Bruni competed in Formula 1. He did one season for Minardi in 2004, but with the team nearing the end of its life, results were slim, and he scored no points all year, recording a career-best finish of 14th at the Malaysian, European and Hungarian Grands Prix. Endurance Career Interestingly, he moved to GP2 the following year, scoring three wins in 2005 and 2006, before moving into sportscars. That move would transform his career. Starting with Virgo Motorsports in 2007 in the European Le Mans Series, he would be closely associated with Ferrari for a long time, winning the ELMS championship in 2011 for AF Corse and many races in the process. In 2008, he would compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time, winning the GT2 class with Mika Salo for Risi Competizione. He would add two more wins in 2012 and 2014 for AF Corse (sharing the car with Giancarlo Fisichella), before a move to Porsche in the 2018 season saw him finish P2 that year and also in 2019. He won the WEC title in 2013 and 2014 with AF Course, finished 2nd in 2015, and 3rd in 2016 and 2018-2019, sitting in 5th place at the moment in the 2019-2020 season. He also did a few races in the WeatherTech SportsCars Championship, with his best results coming in 2017 for the Porsche GT Team (P2 at Lime Rock and Road America).
Team: AF Corse (Ferrari) #54 Formula 1 history: Minardi 1996, Jordan 1997, 2002-2003, Benetton 1998-2001, Sauber 2004, Renault 2005-2007, Force India 2008-2009, Ferrari 2009. 229 starts, 275 points, 4 pole positions, 2 fastest laps, 3 wins The most recent Italian driver to win a race in Formula 1, Giancarlo “Fisi” Fisichella had a long and mostly successful career in F1. He began at Minardi in 1996, before switching to Jordan for 1997, scoring two podiums and 9th in the championship, before switching to Benetton for 1998. Although he did manage a further two podiums while at the Anglo-British team in 1998, it would take until 2000 to better his 1997 championship position, finishing 8th in 2000. In 2001, his final year with Benetton, he achieved another podium for a third-placed finish at Spa, before switching back to Jordan for 2002 and 2003. Jordan’s best years were behind it, however, and although he did get his first win in a crazy Brazilian Grand Prix - although he was only recognised as the winner a week after the race - it was a mostly unsuccessful period for the highly rated Italian. A single year with Sauber in 2004 was marginally more successful than his two years with Jordan, although there were no further wins or podiums. He then returned to his former team, now known as Renault, for 2005, just when the team came good, scoring 58 points and a second win at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, good enough for fifth in the championship, helping Renault to the constructors’ title in the process. 2006 saw more success, a further win at Malaysia and 72 points warranting fourth and another Constructors’ Championship as his teammate Fernando Alonso took his second Drivers’ title. He stayed with Renault for 2007 but the team seemed to have peaked, with no wins or podiums for the team or Fisi. He switched to the fledgling Force India for 2008 but, as is typical for a new team, he spent the year at the back of the grid, although his experience and knowledge was welcomed. He stayed at Force India for 2009, scoring the team’s first podium at the Belgian Grand Prix, but achieved his dream later in the year: driving for Ferrari, replacing the injured Felipe Massa. While he scored no points in a lacklustre year for the Scuderia, he had driven for Italy’s most famous sporting outfit - a dream for any driver, let alone an Italian. He stayed on with Ferrari in a reserve driver role for 2010, but by then his Formula 1 career was over. Endurance career He is a Ferrari driver through and through when it comes to sportscars. Four entries in the 24 Hours of Daytona with Risi Competizione (best result P3 in 2017). He has also raced in the 12 Hours of Sebring six times (best result P2 in 2015), 2011 and 2012 with AF Corse, then from 2014 to 2017 with Risi. Add to that six entries in the 10 Hours / 1000 Miles of Petit Le Mans (two wins, one third place) and this is already a serious endurance racing career and have not yet touched on the big one. Ten years racing Ferraris in the WEC, first for AF Corse (in his first year, 2010, sharing the car with Jean Alesi), then with Risi, finally with Spirit of Race. He won twice with Gimmi Bruni (2012 and 2014 with AF Corse), finished P2 three times (2011 with AF Corse, 2016 with Risi, 2018 with Spirit of Race), adding a third place finish with AF Corse in 2015. His only DNF was in 2017 with Risi.
Team: JMW Motorsport (Ferrari) #66 Formula 1 history: McLaren 1995, Stewart 1997-1998. 24 starts, 1 point. Magnussen Sr. came into F1 off the back of a hugely successful 1994 British F3 championship, dominating the series and winning 14 out of 18 races. He debuted for McLaren at the 1995 Pacific Grand Prix, replacing an unwell Mika Häkkinen, finishing 10th. He did not get a full-time drive for 1996, though, and was next seen in F1 in 1997, for the new Stewart Grand Prix team. It was an unsuccessful year though, failing to score any points alongside his teammate Rubens Barrichello, who managed a podium at Monaco. Alas, this was Magnussen’s only full season in F1. He was retained by Stewart for 1998, scoring his first point at the Canadian Grand Prix with a sixth-placed finish, before being replaced by Jos Verstappen for the remainder of the season. Endurance Career His endurance career has been much more successful. He has competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans every year since 1999. He has shared the car with Mario Andretti (Panoz Motorsports in 2000, 8th in class). He has won the 24 Hours 4 times with Corvette (2004-2006, 2009, coming home second in 2003 for Audi, 2007-2008 and 2014 for Corvette), and finished third in 2017. After being dropped by Corvette, he found a place with JMW, driving a Ferrari in the 24 Hours for the first time. He has also won the 24 Hours of Daytona for Corvette (2015), where he competed from 2005 to 2019, along with the WeatherTech SportsCars Championship title in 2017 and 2018 (finishing 3rd in 2015, 2016 and 2019). Because this is already a rather long article and if we were to highlight all drivers that have F3 or similar experience we would be talking about half the grid, we left out a few drivers that have made it to at least F2/GP2/FR3.5 in the last decade, such as:
Nathanaël Berthon, the 2016 Formula V8 3.5 champion
Multiple GP2 race winners Sam Bird and James Calado
Multiple Formula V8 3.5/FR3.5 race winners Matevos Isaakyan, Matthieu Vaxivière, René Binder, Norman Nato, and Marco Sørensen
2020.09.17 03:19 AngelofDeath2020Would the ongoing Pinoy BL trend continue or not?
[Fair warning: Please, if you can not appreciate this topic, leave us alone. I only posted it here so I can get the reactions of some LGBT-allies and those who can 'appreciate' this kind of topic. Thank you.] Sawatdi. As you may have known, the BL trend has reached our shores thanks to IdeaFirst Co.'s Gameboys and Black Sheep's Hello Stranger and a few others notably, by Ride or Die's Quaranthings: The Series, AsterisK Digital Entertainment's My Extraordinary, and Globe Studios' #\Gaya sa Pelikula, and many, many more. Funny though, it was only in 2018 that I discovered KrisSingto from GMMTV's SOTUS and SOTUS S The Series & the original 2 Moons and, Together with me. Back in those days, I was a bit excited and shocked that Asians had gone this far. For all I know, these kind of stories are only featured either on Netflix or on Western TV shows. Boys' Love was originally from Japan as in the form of manga and less frequently in mainstream media like anime. It also has its fanbase in Taiwan and China [\well, sort of, guess the Great WALL (not well, sry for the typo) isn't working well enough for Fundanshi/Fujoshis :))) fight me..] BL, in my personal knowledge, also its origin from its more erotic and sensual cousin, the Yaoi genre. Typically, yaoi is more pronounced in mangas and rarely in animes. Its main theme usually focuses on tragedy, humor, BDSM, erotic gay fantasies and yes, rape. Bara is yaoi's more, more erotic cousin, usually hairy, very muscular men akin to beefcakes are featured. Strangely, its target audience are teenage girls from Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, China and yes, even the United States. Had to admit though, the Yaoi/BL genre is a bit sensual and erotic at best. Examples include Water Boyy The Series from Thailand (though I did not finished it) and Banana Fish (2018) bananafish -- as the Yaoi/BL is also not limited to erotic/sensual themes, it also has a more affectionate, albeit platonic side, akin to bromance on another level. As with the discussion mentioned above, I was a bit shocked when these things suddenly erupted in Youtube. Nagulat ako! As a Filipino discreet gay guy, I was shocked. There is this certain level of fear and ostracization that I might get, even in the Alter world for supporting this in the context of these things appearing in the Philippine media setting. I was also EXCITED. I was more comfortable viewing Japanese/Thai even western medias depicting these kind of relationships and commenting on them on social media as the fans were more open and less irrational pertaining to their views of morality, etc. Up to this day, I am still skeptical if this wave would continue or would just disappear once the restrictive lockdowns disappear. I am really curious if these things would continue. The view of most Filipinos to LGBTs on mainstream media are more on the entertainment value, and not on the issues that really surround most of us like discrimination, ostracization and failing to keep moralistic traditions like marriage and reproductive babymaking like rabbits. Pinoy gay men are often less valued especially on our own abilities. These discriminations are more pronounced in conservative workplaces (and sometimes in the liberal ones) and we are often tagged as weak or ridiculed for our preferences, or stereotyped. This is in contrast with straight men/women whose stories have been told countless times in Teleseryes and classic Pinoy novels and even PHPrecious Heart Romances novels with recurring themes like endless ligawan, kabitan, agawan, palitan ng anak, diaries, endless 'last will testament' changes, and bida/kontrabida stories. Never was there a legit acknowledgement of LGBT stories or BL themed stories and gay men are always included as an 'joyful parlorista character siding with the bida' in the story. Gay men are not often depicted in a good light. One example is GMA Network's Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko in 2018 were it won UPLB Isko’t Iska's Most Gender Transformative Program and nominated in the 33rd PMPC for Best Daytime TV show. Yes the story is quite extraordinary, imagine a transsexual trying to be your partner who was later revealed as your wife's ex-husband. Great story with a lot of sabunatan - agawan themes with the wife of the ex-husband now playing as the kontrabida/trans wife. Lack of imagination I guess, I am not well impressed on this. Or is it GMA Network's doing, pushing its own conservative-moralistic and often times bigoted agenda? Meron pa, I remember some stories featured in Kapuso MO Jessica Soho with gay men marrying lesbian women to become 'legit' families or the endless features of those stories in Mel Tiangco's Magpakailanman.
COME ON PEOPLE, FEATURE GAY MEN PARTNERING WITH GAY MEN.
As I support all kinds and types of love across our lovely rainbow, I'm afraid GMA 7 is pushing too much of its subtle intervention to convert gay men to 'married' gay men with lesbian women. Though it is a choice for some, featuring stories like these are a bit narrow and a true attack on the diverseness of the LGBT realm. Please feature true lesbian and gay couples not lesbian + gay couples or gay + lesbian couples. I am really rooting for more representation on this matter. Like Pinoy BL being a real mainstream with real Zoom/Mall shows in the near future. Let's face it, Philippines really like to hide behind its moralistic view on the universe, most especially to our Christian tradition handed down by our former colonizers. I am hoping for the better. Taiwan, as you and I know is the first Asian country to make Same sex marriages legal. Surprisingly, Thailand, Vietnam and even Japan are also making the similar moves in the near future. Enjoying this subgenre should be something be thought of enjoying love without borders instead of imposing other religious beliefs and/or moralistic approach to one's own point of view. After all, love is love. there should be freedom on who should be we love. Love should not be something on which what society favors you to love or what your peers are pressuring you on loving. Bakit, sila ba ikaw para sila ang mamili ng mamahilin mo? Kontento na ako sa buhay ko at hindi naman ako ganun kadesperado to be teased with someone. Sila ba, masaya ba sa buhay nila? Ask them. Sila ata desperado magka-syota.
REALLY FUNNY THOUGH, SAME-SEX MARRIAGE IS LEGAL in SPAIN, and the UNITED STATES.
EVEN THE JEWS in ISRAEL's KNESSET are now on the way of making it LEGAL, so WHAT IS STOPPING US? THE VATICAN?
Previous episodes:Flamengo, Vasco, Fluminense, Grêmio, Botafogo, Atlético Mineiro, Internacional, Corinthians In this series I will present each of the 12 Brazilian teams that together compose the "Big 12". My point is to make them more knowledgeable to you, since each one of these teams have their share of the Brazil national team success and of Brazilian club football accomplishments as a whole. I'll try to be as smooth, efficient and non-boring as I can. If the feedback is positive, I'll keep bringing more to this series. So ok, let's do this! Method: I'll present the teams in a chronological order, from the oldest foundation (Flamengo-1895) to the latest one (São Paulo-1930). The order will be: Flamengo, Vasco, Fluminense, Grêmio, Botafogo, Atlético Mineiro, Internacional, Corinthians, Santos, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro, São Paulo. How many of these have you heard of? Extra clubs: Due to a high number of requests, I'll also present 3 teams who don't belong to the Big12, but are also considered big clubs in Brazil: Bahia, Athletico Paranaense and Coritiba. Welcome to the club! Geographical reference: Before we start, I'd like to ask something very simple from you. I want you to keep in mind that these 12 teams are spread in 4 different States in Brazil. The club's State name is written below, next to the club's name. It has a direct link to Google Maps, so that you can check it out to make this experience more accurate.
Major achievements: 2 Intercontinental Cup (1962, 1963), 3 Copa Libertadores (1962, 1963, 2011), 8 Brazilian Leagues (1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1968, 2002, 2004), 1 Copa do Brasil (2010)
State League titles: 22 (Against Corinthians' 30, Palmeiras' 23, São Paulo's 21)
PLAY AND LISTEN TO SANTOS ANTHEM WHILE READING - Click here The Football Kingdom There's an urban legend that says that a lightning never strikes the same place twice. But apparently this legend doesn't apply to the physics of Santos, a humble and small port city on the coast of São Paulo. There, a young kid named Pelé, would come up to become football's greatest legend, a man that could stop a war with his foot, a man that transcended all sports combined. In that same city of Santos - with a probable electromagnetic sequel caused by the lightning of Pelé - were raised the raw talents of the princes Robinho and Neymar. Curiously enough, Marta, the Queen of Football, and Falcão, the King of Futsal, also stepped foot and left a legacy at Santos, the football kingdom of the world. Let the story begin! The early years and the 100-goal team at 1929 São Paulo State League Santos was founded in 1912, but only on the late 1920s the team would become a threat to the State League teams from the state capital, São Paulo. Indeed, in 1927, the team led by Araken Patusca and Feitiço scored 100 goals in 16 matches, an average of 6,25 goals/match, a world record in official competitions until today. However, they lost the title in the last round to Palmeiras. These two players would make history in Santos: Feitiço scored 214 goals and is the Santos 5th top goalscorer of all time, while Araken Patusca scored 184, and is the 7th. In 1935, Santos would win their first State League title, after beating Corinthians 2-0. The Pelé Era: the greatest team in the world, the team that stopped a war in Africa,Os Santásticos Before Pelé arrived, Santos had recently won the 1955 and 1956 State Leagues, with a great team led by Brazil NT forwards Del Vecchio, Pepe, Pagão, Jair, and the midfielder Zito. After Pelé left, Santos had added 25 more trophies to their cabinet: 2 Intercontinental Cups, 2 Copa Libertadores, 6 Brazilian Leagues, 10 State Leagues, 3 Rio-São Paulo Tournament, 1 Supercopa Sudamericana and 1 Recopa Intercontinental. During Pelé's time in the 1960s, Santos scored around 3000 goals, with more than 1000 scored by the king, in both official competitions (643 goals) and friendlies (448 goals) for Santos. Actually, counting only teams from Europe big6, Pelé scored 103 goals in those high-level friendlies, as you can see here. If we count all European clubs and National Teams, Pelé scored 163 goals. He also scored 87 goals against 1st division Brazilian teams, 116 goals against South American teams and National Teams, 44 goals against African/Asian/Central American National Teams, totalizing 410 goals in high-level friendlies - all data details here. At that time, friendlies were highly hyped, and there were more Europeans attending friendlies vs. Santos than attending their own national leagues matches - attendance data here.
Pelé arrived at Santos in 1956, at the age of 15. In that same year arrived the right-wing Dorval, aged 21. In 1958 arrived the centre-forward Coutinho, aged 14, and in 1960 the attacking midfielder, Mengálvio, aged 20. They all joined the left-wing Pepe, at Santos since 1954, to form the famous quintet that dominated the world: Dorval, Mengálvio, Coutinho, Pelé and Pepe.

But everything started in the 1957 São Paulo State League, when Pelé was topscorer with 36 goals, at the age of 16. There wasn't a National League until 1959, due to Brazil's huge size and weak infrastructure, so the players would shine in the State Leagues, which lasted the entire year. Pelé, at 17, broke the São Paulo State League record (until today), scoring 58 goals in 38 matches, in 1958 - which brought him to the Brazil NT and to the 1958 World Cup. After winning it, him and Santos started travelling in exhibition tours to make cash and challenge the best teams around the world in "friendly" matches. In 1959, Santos took part in the 1st Brazilian League edition, qualifying as São Paulo State League champions. However, they lost the final to Bahia (2-3, 2-0, 1-3). As Santos lost the 1959 São Paulo State League finals to Palmeiras, they didn't qualify to the 1960 Brazilian League. However, they won the 1960 São Paulo State League and qualified to the 1961 Brazilian League. From 1961 to 1965, Santos won 5 consecutive Brazilian Leagues, a record until today. However, Santos would always enter in the semi-finals and only play 4-5 matches to be crowned champions - this rule would only be modified from the 1967 Brazilian League.

Santos won the decisive match 5-0 at the Maracanã, with this goal from Pelé. In 1962, Santos also participated in their first Copa Libertadores, qualified as the 1961 Brazilian League champions. Santos topped their group stage against Cerro Porteño (Paraguay) (9-1, 1-1) and Municipal (Bolivia) (6-1, 4-3). In the semis against Universidad Católica (Chile), Santos tied 1-1 away, and won 1-0 at home. The final would be against Peñarol (Uruguay). Santos won the first leg 2-1 in Uruguay, with two goals from Coutinho, in a great comeback. In the 2nd leg in Brazil, a crazy story: after a big and violent confusion, the match was restarted and Peñarol scored the third goal at '51 (2-3). Santos only needed a tie and scored it at '67, the match ended 3-3 and Santos celebrated the title. However, the referee wrote down in the match report that the match was over at '51 - he was scared to really end it, so he kept the match going until the end, but it wasn't counting for him, so he (and CONMEBOL) declared Peñarol the winners. This forced a third match, in neutral Argentina, which Santos dominated and won 3-0, with two goals from Pelé and one own goal from Peñarol. Santos were for the first time, and the first Brazilian team, crowned South American champions. This title qualified Santos to the 1962 Intercontinental Cup, against the European champions, Benfica. The 1st leg at the Maracanã ended 3-2 for Santos, with 2 goals from Pelé and one from Coutinho. Before the 2nd match in Lisbon, Benfica announced that they were selling tickets for the third match, certain that they would win at home. However, Pelé destroyed the match with a splendid hat-trick, an assist, nutmegs and dribbling past the entire Benfica defense to score one of his goals. The match ended 5-2 before a crowd of 73.000 portuguese fans, and Pelé proved once again he was still football's king, as he and Santos were crowned club world champions for the first time. Highlights of the match here (4mn56 video). The next year, in 1963, Santos would once again win the Copa Libertadores. Being the current champions, they entered in the semi-final stage against the legendary Botafogo of Garrincha, Didi and Nilton Santos. The 1st leg ended 1-1, with Pelé scoring a tie at '90. The 2nd match at the Maracanã ended 4-0 to Santos, with Pelé scoring the first goal, also the second goal from a header, and the third from a penalty kick. Lima scored the fourth, with an assist from Pepe. Santos were once again qualified to the Copa Libertadores final. They would meet Boca Juniors, from Argentina. In the 1st leg at the Maracanã, Santos opened 3-0 with two goals from Coutinho - notably this one - and one from Lima. Boca, however, scored twice with Sanfilippo and the match ended 3-2. The atmosphere at La Bombonera for the 2nd leg was intense. 50.000 Argentine kept singing "Pelé hijo de puta, macaquitos del Brasil" (Pelé son of a b., little monkeys from Brazil). Then Boca opened the score at '46 with Sanfilippo. However, 4 minutes later, Pelé assisted Coutinho to score the tie. Later, Pelé mocked the Boca team by playing with the ball at Boca's GK hand. And at '82, Pelé scored the winning goal and celebrated with euphory and anger: Santos were back-to-back Copa Libertadores champions. Santos were once again qualified to the Intercontinental Cup, and would face Milan. Santos lost the 1st leg 2-4, at San Siro, in Milan. In the 2nd leg at the Maracanã, Milan went to half-time winning 2-0. A heavy rain began and the pitch became a mud. Santos, without Pelé, counted on Pepe's free-kick to score their first goal. Almir and Lima scored Santos second and third goals, at '54 and '65. Pepe, again from a free-kick, scored the fourth at '68, forcing a third match. In the third and final match, at the Maracanã again, Maldini committed a penalty and was sent off. Still without Pelé, Dalmo scored the 1-0 winning goal, crowning Santos once again club world champions. Santos wouldn't win the Copa Libertadores again in the 1960s. They reached the semis in 1964 and 1965, and refused to play it in 1966, 1967 and 1969 - not only it was financially unattractive, but also too violent and with tendencious refereeing. So Santos prefered to travel around the globe and make cash to pay their expensive team. The "Santos Globetrotters", would tour the world and smash whoever and wherever. 7-1 Internazionale, 5-0 Roma, 6-2 Napoli, 3-0 Lazio, 5-1 Lecce, 5-1 Barcelona, 6-0 Hamburg, 9-1 TSV München 1860, 6-3 Wolfsburg, 5-2 Eintracht Frankfurt, 4-2 Hertha Berlin, 6-4 Fortuna Düsseldorf, 5-0 Arminia Bielefield, 6-3 Benfica, 4-2 Sheffield Wednesday, 4-2 Newcastle, 5-3 Reims, 6-1 Racing, 6-2 Lyon, 3-0 Toulouse, 3-0 Feyenoord, 5-0 Enschede, 3-0 Peñarol, 8-3 Racing (Argentina), 4-0 Independiente, 4-1 Boca Juniors, 4-0 River Plate... In official competitions, Pelé's Santos played 6 matches against Europeans, with 5W-1L:
1962 Intercontinental Cup
Santos 3-2 Benfica
Pelé (2x), Santana (2x), Coutinho
1962 Intercontinental Cup
Santos 5-2 Benfica
Pelé (3x), Eusébio, Coutinho, Pepe, Santana
1963 Intercontinental Cup
Santos 2-4 Milan
Pelé (2x), Amarildo (2x), Trapattoni, Mora
1963 Intercontinental Cup
Santos 4-2 Milan
Pepe (2x), Mazzola, Almir, Lima, Mora
1963 Intercontinental Cup
Santos 1-0 Milan
1968 Recopa Intercontinental
Santos 1-0 Internazionale
However, Santos wasn't invincible, and Palmeiras stopped them from winning 12 consecutive State Leagues (1958-69), by beating Santos in 1959, 1963 and 1966. 1969: the year that Santos stopped a war in Africa and that Pelé scored his 1000th goal On the 4th February 1969, Pelé's Santos stopped an ongoing war in Nigeria. The civil war had been going on in the Biafra region since March 1967, and it lasted until January 1970, with the separatists' defeat. 2 million people died in the conflict. There was a global effort trying to stop the violent repression of the Nigerian government against the Biafras. Artists like Joan Baez, Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon, authorities like the Pope Paul VI and the United Nations tried do contain the conflict, without success. But Santos did. As the team was touring in Africa, they were invited by the Nigerian government to play in Benin. A first and only cease-fire was declared so Santos could move from the hotel to the stadium and then back to the hotel. Santos won the match 2-1, and left the country the next day, as the war restarted as soon as they were gone, lasting 11 more months. On the 19th November 1969, Pelé scored his 1000th goal, against Vasco, the team he supported as a child, at the Maracanã. Journalists from all over the world had been following Santos matches, waiting for the 1000th goal to happen, which he did on his 912th career match. By the end of the decade, Santos team had changed, but was still strong, notably counting with the right-back Carlos Alberto Torres, the midfielder Clodoaldo and the forwards Edu and Toninho Guerreiro, all of them champions in the 1970 World Cup, except for the latter. They notably won the 1968 Brazilian League, the 1968 Supercopa Sudamericana and the 1968 Recopa Intercontinental. My personal favorite goal of this era is this one by Toninho Guerreiro, after a rainbow flick assist by Kaneko, in 1968. The Pelé Era last title was the São Paulo State League title of 1973. Pelé left in October 1974, having scored 1091 goals in 1116 matches for Santos. 1978-1984: the Meninos da Vila (Vila Boys) and the last title before the drought In 1978, a new term was coined to the players produced by Santos youth system, or just young players that were bought: the Meninos da Vila (Vila Boys), that won the 1978 State League. The 1st generation counted with Juary, João Paulo, Pita, Nilton Batata and Ailton Lira.
2013-today Since the Neymar & Ganso Era ended in 2013, Santos has won 2 State League titles (2015, 2016), finished 2nd in the Brazilian League twice (2016, 2019) and in the Copa do Brasil once (2015), as well as revealing Rodrygo in 2018. Santos represents the essence of Brazilian football DNA, which is offensive and beautiful football, a philosophy which made their youth system one of the most respected in the world. You can watch here some rare Pelé highlights, here some 2002-2005 Robinho's and here some 2009-2013 Neymar's. Santos is one of the 3 Brazilian teams that has never been relegated. To this day, Santos has a fanbase of 6 million supporters, and a stadium attendance average of 10.300, as of 2019. If you have any questions about Brazilian football, feel free to join us at futebol, where you'll be very welcomed!

Couldn't really think of a better title, but this is basically just a list of a couple things you should know and can do to better improve the function of your rep. Created in collaboration with skaterluca1 Regulation: By shortening or lengthening the hairspring, it'll go slower or faster respectively.
ETA based movements use the ETAChron regulator which is pretty easy to work with, and the Asian clones are essentially identical so can be regulated the same way. However, different calibres may have different fine adjustment methods.
The ETA 28xx series are the same, e.g 2824, 2836, 2892, etc. Green and blue both pivot where green is a coarse rate adjustment and blue adjusts beat error (the difference in time between the clockwise and counterclockwise movement of the balance swing). Don't mess with those unless the rate and beat error is really bad because you may have to turn the screws on them to center the spring and you'll need a special screwdriver that I couldn't find a cheap version for; it is also INSANELY SENSITIVE, so if you're not losing minutes per day, don't mess with it. The hairspring needs to be centered to decrease the difference in rate of each position, e.g. dial up can be +3 but crown down could be -20. The fine adjustment can be done by turning the screw pointed in red, where each notch is ~5 s/d, + if you want it faster, and - if you want it slower.
ETA 6497 and 6498 are identical in terms of coarse adjustment to the 2824, but if you need to mess with those you're better off taking it to someone certified or just straight up replacing the balance. The fine adjustment is done by simply moving the lever to either side. Down/towards the screen is faster and away/up is slower. Your movement should have notches and the + and - signs on it though.
ETA 7750, same deal, just slightly different looking lever.
As far as I'm aware, Rolex clone movements all regulate the same way. Here's a picture I took from Puretime. The thin one with the two gold pins in it adjusts rate, and the thick one is for beat error. Clones also do not have the little pins on the outside of the hairspring, called Microstella screws, which are used for additional regulating. They work by increasing or decreasing the inertia of the balance to change the rate.
Miyota 9015, very simple, simply move the lever with the two yellow dots on it. Here's a picture of the escapement for reference.
You probably don't have a timegrapher, and neither do I, so this is a program made by a WUS user that I've been using called TG. I've found it pretty simple to use.
G-S cement between any crystal and metal, i.e. front crystal and case, as well as back crystal and case back. It's probably better to do it from the inside rather than the outside, but that means removing the movement. But to clarify, if there’s a gasket between the crystal and the metal, and it’s not just sapphire on steel, then there’s no need for G-S cement to be used.
soak all the gaskets and o-rings in silicone grease
and if there's a He escape valve, glue it shut with marine epoxy.
Get it to a watchmaker and pressure tested so you know it can actually take water.
Replacing Crystal You can find replacement crystals for a couple different watches from Prof on RWI. Contact him through email to get more info. If you can't find a replica or an oem, you can always use a generic from places like Esslinger. Replacing is very simple, here's a guide for press-fit crystals Tools Obviously you'll need tools to get started, and there's a couple of really affordable tool kits on amazon that do the job like they're supposed to. But keep in mind that cheap tools will break over time, and higher quality, more “premium” tools will set you back a bit more in the moment but will last you much, much longer and will work better. Bergeon and Horotec are the go-to brands for quality watch tools. But if you don't want to get one and want to get individual tools instead here's a couple of the ones you'll really need:
There is however a specific part that I'm trying to find and cannot for the life of me find, and it's a Triovis regulator for an ETA 2824. Tudor uses one but I'm afraid it may be custom. Things I Want to Add Things that I don't know and would want input from other people:
I'd also like to have a comprehensive guide to the different Asian clone movements but idk where to begin with that.
comprehensive guide to the cross-compatibility of different movement parts
Other random things resetting keyless work on a ETA 2824: if you've tried to take the crown out of an ETA 2824, chances are you've fucked up the keyless work before, so here's a video of an ETA 2824 being serviced, time-stamped at where the keyless work is put back together. The rest of the video is also well worth watching. lift angle of movements, you'll want this info to put into the timegraphing app I linked as well as actual timegraphers. ETA 2824 and it's Swiss counterparts Interchangeability of 11.5''' movements, e.g. ETA 2824 types of shock absorbers, in Korean but google translate does a decent job translating, definitely worth a read. This is by no means a completed or comprehensive list, so I want to expand it, and I'd love it if anyone wants to contribute :) Also just want to state that I'm not certified for anything watch related, this is just a hobby so that's why there's alotta stuff I don't know. 2020.09.05 06:10 BruneiansForging cooperation in Halal sector
A recent webinar on Halal trade and investment opportunities discussed areas in the Halal value chain, with great potential for joint ventures between Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines. The event presented the positive implications of cooperation between the two countries in this sector on the economic development of the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). Organised by the Philippines Embassy in Brunei Darussalam and the Department of Trade and Industry of the Philippines, with the full support of the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE), the event featured presentations by four speakers from the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone (ZAMBOECOZONE), the Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BDBEBC), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), and the Department of Agriculture of the Philippines. Ambassador of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam Christopher B Montero stated that forging stronger cooperation in the Halal sector represents a significant pillar of trade, business and investment interaction between the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam. He said, “The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Halal Industry and Export Development and Promotion during the State Visit of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to the Philippines in April 2017, is a manifestation of the importance of Halal cooperation for both countries.” “The robust connections on Halal that result from the implementation of the MoU do not only benefit the Philippines and Brunei, but also impacts profoundly on the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area, an area with huge promise yet hampered by the challenges posed by connectivity.” Spurring Syariah-compliant production and the provision of business services would result in more regional manufacturing and logistics hubs, similar to the special economic zones in the Philippines, which in turn would indirectly address the connectivity issues of the BIMP-EAGA in the medium- and long-term by serving as the basis for larger passenger and cargo volumes. Highlighting the role of the Halal industry development in the promotion of peace in the BIMP-EAGA, Montero said, “From a strategic standpoint, our intensified engagement in the Halal sector would significantly impact on the economic development of our communities in southern Philippines, particularly the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). “This is a critical component towards sustaining the gains of the peace process in Mindanao, for which the Government of His Majesty has been a vital partner of the Philippines through its long and active participation in the International Monitoring Team (IMT) and the International Decommissioning Body (IDB) Board.” Permanent Secretary (Industry) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Pengiran Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani expressed that economic collaboration is crucial today, more than ever, in assisting the recovery of societies, businesses and communities from the adverse impacts of COVID-19. She encouraged both Brunei and the Philippines “to take advantage of the vast opportunities available in the global Halal market, especially with the increasing demand for Halal products and services.” Citing the Halal sector as being one of the global economic drivers, Pengiran Hajah Zety Sufina recognised the potential of bilateral cooperation to turn both countries into leaders of the global Halal industry and a joint Halal hub. “It is in the interest of the Philippines and Brunei to look into the potential value chains which can be utilised for bringing positive progress, not only in each economy but also for the larger BIMP-EAGA,” she added. Undersecretary Abdulgani M Macatoman from the Department of Trade and Industry of the Philippines reported that progress on the implementation of the MoU on Halal cooperation between the two countries is moving in the areas of mutual recognition of Halal standards, science and technology, Islamic banking and finance, and Syariah-compliant governance. Four speakers from the Philippines and Brunei served as resource persons during the webinar. The potential of ZAMBOECOZONE to become an important production hub for Halal products in BIMP-EAGA was discussed by its Chairman and Administrator Raul Regondola. In addition to the existing infrastructure of its Asian Halal Centre, Regondola presented the incentives offered to international locators in ZAMBOECOZONE, such as tax holidays and tax ceilings. Being the only Philippine Freeport in the Visayas and Mindanao, ZAMBOECOZONE has been targetting investments in poultry farms, meat processing, and Halal feeds manufacturing. Deputy Chairman of BDBEBC Captain (Rtd) Zailan bin Pehin Datu Kerma Setia Major (Rtd) Dato Seri Laila Jasa Mohd Don made a presentation focussing on private sector initiatives in establishing production, distribution and trading hubs for Halal products and services in BIMP-EAGA. He said that BDBEBC has identified supply, manufacturing and consumer bases in the BIMP-EAGA in its strategic platform which, when realised, would ensure the economic development of BIMP-EAGA and turn it into a main Halal hub that would have a significant role in the global Halal market. Captain (Rtd) Zailan also disclosed that in working towards the realisation of their vision, BDBEBC has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Reefer Express Line of the Philippines to develop linkages among ports in BIMP-EAGA and improve logistics services in the region. The value of Halal authentication technologies was the main discussion topic of Dr Nur Thaqifah Salihah binti Haji Mohd Salleh from UNISSA, who presented various ways of preserving the integrity of Halal products as they go through the five stages in the Halal value chain, from product development to distribution and sales. Dr Nur Thaqifah Salihah presented the latest technologies available for evaluating the safety and quality of Halal products, such as the Mimica Touch and the Sentinel Wrap. She concluded that the best technologies for use in detection are those that are highly sensitive, specific and fast. Undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture of the Philippines Zamzam L Ampatuan expounded on the 10-Year Halal Food Production Programme by presenting the priorities of each phase of the programme focussing on poultry, livestock and aquaculture, as well as future initiatives to supply the demand of the ASEAN market. The webinar concluded with testimonials from the Philippines exporters of Halal goods who participated in the Brunei Halal Showcase in 2018. The Bruneian owner of Bay 91 Café in Manila Ardy bin Haji Abdul Momin also shared his experiences in operating a Halal restaurant in the Philippines. BB Link
2020.09.03 20:57 PowerStacheOfTheYearNew Information Leaked on Upcoming Film
So I just tried to post this to the main MK subreddit, but it seems to have been automatically deleted. I was going to cross-post anyway, but I guess I will just post this here. I just recently discovered an MK-related podcast called "the Realm Kast", and they released a new episode today with an interview with the person who leaked aspects of the script in 2018. He gives quite a bit of new information about the movie, and it actually sounds like it could be interesting and pretty good. Definitely a divergence from the standard MK1 retelling, but it sounds like it could actually be well done. The guy is clearly a big fan of Mortal Kombat as well as being savvy about Hollywood and general filmmaking, which lends some credence to his optimism about the movie. Here is the link for the episode on Spotify (where I listened to it), but it should be available on other platforms as well: https://open.spotify.com/episode/5l6jhVdwClo7Nr7T20iLZ1 A couple interesting notes to me:
Cole Turner is still the protagonist, though the name will likely be changed (and has been changed at least once) as the character was changed from white to Asian and will be played by Lewis Tan. He suggests that the part could have been rewritten to Johnny but feels reasonably optimistic about this character.
Kano will be fighting for Earthrealm like in the original MK1 story and serves as comic relief.
Apparently there is a funny scene where he insults and knocks out a Tarkatan in a bar without realizing half the other patrons were also Tarkatan.
He claims that Nathan Jones will not be playing Shao Kahn, but actually Reiko. Shao Kahn will supposedly not be physically seen but will be mentioned and have a palpable presence in the movie, much like Emperor Palpatine in the original Star Wars. This makes some degree of sense given that Jones was apparently practicing for a fight scene in his Twitter video, and Shao Kahn probably wouldn't be fighting anyone in the first film in the series, unless it were just to crush someone easily to build him up for the sequel. It still seems weird for Jones to not be Kahn just given his sheer size, though.
Apparently Sub-Zero and Scorpion will be enemies in the movie, but their backstories are quite a bit different than the games.
Nitara and Drahmin will be in the film, but apparently Rain has been cut (I guess this was previously leaked, though I don't remember). Stryker will be mentioned in dialogue but not appear physically.
Apparently the middle act was completely rewritten from the 2016 to 2018 versions of the script and vastly improved. He mentions one scene in the original version that was actual very good, but it is unclear whether it made it to the next draft. Apparently it involves Sub-Zero chasing heroes through an abandoned temple and smashing into the rooms.
Jax and Shang Tsung have had their roles increased in size from the 2016 script to the 2018 version.
There is a lot more information, as well. The podcast as a whole also seems quite good. I have only listened to one other episode, but I have been quite impressed with them both. EDIT: It looks like their YouTube channel also has some additional shorter videos, in addition to their full episodes.
